Stabilizing Loose Teeth
When Are Splints Needed?
Periodontal disease or trauma can loosen teeth, making chewing painful. A periodontal splint joins teeth together to distribute bite pressure evenly, restoring comfort and function.
How Splints Work
- Temporary Splints: Bonded to the enamel (extra-coronal) or inserted into a small channel in the teeth (intra-coronal).
- Permanent Splints: Crowns of affected teeth are fused together for long-term stabilization.
